Hobart Fire Forum - Fully Booked

Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, the fire forum is now fully booked.

The bushfire crisis unfolding on the mainland has highlighted the need to change the way we deal with bushfires, climate change and risk.

The Australia Institute and the new Independent Science Council of Tasmania is co-hosting a fire forum in Hobart and has bought together three of Australia's best experts on fire:

Mike Brown - Former Tasmania Fire Chief and one of the former fire and emergency services chiefs lobbying the PM for urgent action of climate change

Prof. David Bowman - Professor of Pyrogeography and Fire Science, Director of the Fire Centre at UTAS; Prof. Bowman will discuss the major philosophical shifts that are required to cope with adaptation to bushfires

Jen Sanger - School of Geography and Environmental Sciences UTAS, Founder of the Tree Project; Jen has studied the behaviour of the 2019 Southern Tasmanian fires and how they interacted with mature forests

Join us for a discussion on what does and doesn't work when we are getting ready for fire season.

At least 45 minutes of the forum will be available for people to discuss the topic with the expert panel.

Free event but booking essential.
